Terms and Conditions

Abbotskerswell Veterinary Centre would like to thank their clients for choosing us to provide the veterinary care for their pets. The following information details the Practice Terms and Conditions and, where relevant, also apply to South Devon Referrals. Some of the Terms may not be relevant to you. Should you need further explanation/clarification please contact the practice. By choosing to use our facility we consider you agree with the following terms.

Fees

All fees are expected to be settled at the time of treatment/collection of your animal.

All fees; diets and drug charges are subject to VAT at the current rate.

Fee levels are determined according to the time spent on a case and according to the drugs, materials, consumables and may reflect specialist equipment/skills used. A detailed fee note is included with every receipt.

Estimates of Treatment Costs

We will happily discuss estimates as to the probable costs of a course of treatment. A printed estimate can be provided upon request. Please remember however that any estimate can only be approximate as your pet′s condition, and any resulting treatment, may not follow a conventional course. We will try to keep you informed of other costs as they arise.

Methods of Payment

Bills may be settled using:

  • Cash
  • Credit/Debit Card

Due to the withdrawal of the Cheque Card Guarantee Scheme by the banking industry, we no longer accept payment by cheques after 30th June 2011.

Inability To Pay

If, for any reason, you are unable to pay your bill we ask you to discuss the matter with a member of staff as soon as possible. We will try and be understanding, but payment by installments is not encouraged and may only be sanctioned in extenuating circumstances by prior agreement with the Partners.

Pet Health Insurance

Abbotskerswell Veterinary Centre encourages consideration of insuring your pet against unexpected illness or accidents. Further information about insurance is available from practice staff however, owing to FSA regulations we are unable to recommend a specific company or policy, but there are a number of leaflets on display.

Please remember

It is your responsibility to settle our bill, then reclaim the fees from your

            insurance company.

Be aware of your policy excess.

An administration charge is applied by Abbotskerswell Veterinary Centre Insurance when dealing with claim forms. Further details are available from practice staff and displayed in the waiting area.

Supply of Medicines

Prescriptions are available from this Practice. You may obtain Prescription Only Medicines, CategoryV (POM-V) from your veterinary surgeon OR ask for a prescription and obtain these medicines from another vet or pharmacy. In order to prescribe a POM-V the animal has to be under your veterinary surgeons care - i.e. seen recently. A prescription may not be appropriate if your animal is an in-patient or immediate treatment is necessary. You may request information as to the price of any medicine that may be prescribed to your animal.

The general policy of this Practice is to re-assess an animal requiring repeat prescriptions at least every 4 months, but this may vary with individual cases - the standard charge for an 'ongoing′ consultation applies. A prescription fee may be charged in certain circumstances for interim prescriptions.

Ownership Of Records

Case records including radiographs, images and similar documents are the property of, and will be retained by, Abbotskerswell Veterinary Centre. Histories will be passed, on request, to another veterinary surgeon involved in or taking over the case.

Data Protection

Personal information is not given out without prior verbal or written permission. The Data Protection Acts 1984 and 1999 give anyone the right to information about any personal data relating to themselves on payment of an administrative charge.

Variations Of Terms And Conditions

No addition or variation of these Conditions will bind the Practice unless it is specifically agreed in writing and signed by the Partners
