SDR Avian and Exotics
The Avian & Exotics service is run by Ian Sayers BVSc CertZooMed MRCVS. Ian has a long term interest in exotics, encouraging Liverpool University to offer, and then completing, the first exotics elective in 1992, whilst a final year student. He saw exotics and wildlife in clinical practice until travelling to Serengeti to study cheetah. After his return he taught at University Of Bristol Veterinary School for 9 years, as Clinical Fellow of Zoological Medicine & Surgery.
During his time there he was integral to the setting up and running of the UK′s first Rabbit Referral Service in conjunction with the Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund (RWAF). He has worked with various zoological collections in the South West and remains a veterinary consultant for Paignton Zoo. He lectures nationally and internationally, and has contributed to various publications and congresses on all aspects of exotic medicine and surgery.

We have high resolution digital radiography; High frequency, full colour doppler ultrasound; video rigid endoscopy; specialist vivaria for reptile species and hospitalisation facilities separate from the cat & dog wards; high quality anaesthesia and monitoring equipment.
